Areas

The Costa del Sol.

The coast is not one market. Here is how the towns differ, and how to choose between them.

Four towns

The towns we cover most.

Marbella

The icon of the luxury market, from the Golden Mile and Puerto Banús to Nueva Andalucía. The most international and most expensive market on the coast.

Estepona

The coast's strongest growth market. A renewed centre, a marina and the New Golden Mile, with new development at a different price point to Marbella.

Fuengirola

A genuine town with year-round life and a direct rail link to Málaga Airport. The most liquid rental market on this stretch of coast.

Mijas Costa

The coastal side of Mijas, centred on La Cala de Mijas. Beaches, golf courses and newer urbanisations on gentle hills.

One coast, several different markets.

The Costa del Sol runs roughly 150 km from Málaga to Sotogrande, and the towns along it behave very differently. Marbella is international, expensive and prestige-led. Estepona is developing fast and offering newer stock at a lower entry point. Fuengirola is a working town with a rail link and year-round rental demand. Mijas Costa is a coastal strip where golf and greenery sit beside the beach.

That matters because the right location does more for a purchase than the right property in the wrong town. Travel times, beach access, schools, healthcare and how an area feels out of season vary enormously across a short distance.

How to compare areas.

Start with how you intend to live and travel. If you want to walk to dinner and not own a car, Fuengirola or central Estepona suit better. If you want privacy, sea views and a garden, the hills above Estepona or Mijas will suit better. If rental income matters, the rail corridor between Fuengirola and Málaga is the most liquid.

Then look at the season: a beach town in August is very different from the same town in January. We recommend visiting out of season at least once before deciding.

What it costs.

Entry points vary widely: our Mijas developments start at €298,000, Fuengirola at €455,000, Marbella at €528,000, Estepona at €580,000, El Higuerón at €950,000 and Estepona villas at €1,590,000. We quote “from” prices only and confirm current price and availability individually.

Market data for each town comes from the client, is undated and requires confirmation — we mark it visibly rather than presenting it as fact.

Questions buyers ask.

Which area is best on the Costa del Sol?

There is no single best. Marbella suits prestige and international amenities, Fuengirola urban life and rental liquidity, Estepona calm and newer development, and Mijas Costa beach and golf. We help compare them on what matters to you.

Do I need a car?

In Fuengirola and central Estepona you can manage most daily errands without one, thanks to the rail line and town-centre services. In the hills and along Mijas Costa a car is more convenient.

When is the best time to visit?

We recommend visiting out of season at least once. A resort in August feels very different from the same town in January, and that difference matters for a permanent move.

What do properties cost?

In our portfolio, from €298,000 in Mijas to €1,590,000 for villas in Estepona. We quote “from” prices only and confirm current price and availability individually.
